The most common answer I give when asked how I am is, same shit different day; and the response I receive back is, you got that right. This is the working class condition. Doing a job, that even though it holds moral ground, it still drains you of your spirit. You are not paid enough or treated fairly enough in order to have a rich and fulfilling life. The working class does thankless jobs, gets paid shit wages, gets shit benefits, and works shit hours. The working class is the largest class full of every kind of human. The working class is the class of The People. We humans are The People. And we control this world - we just don't know it. If the trashman stopped working shit would hit the fan. If the stock broker stopped working no one would bat an eye. The working class is powerful, but we're traumatized by the system we barely have the energy to fight, or the means. We're trapped inside this system, because if we don't live in this system we don't survive. It's a catch 22. The system is what's killing us, but it's the system we are forced to live in. We fight inside the system. But there will come a time when fighting inside the system won't be enough. We will see that the system is going to destroy us and we will in turn revolt and destroy this parasitic, patriarchal, capitalistic system that oppresses us.
Us, The People.
But until that revolt we ask each other each morning, how are you, and the reply will be, same shit different day. We struggle with depression. We will barely pull our bones from our beds. We drive to our jobs in perpetual fog of dread. We do our jobs for the majority of our day. We drive home back through a fog of low energy. We get home and struggle to be present with ourselves or our families. We lie awake. We stare out into the inky night, mind wandering through biers and vines, as we ponder why the hell we're here on this Earth, in this bed, asking these empty questions again tonight. We sleep restless dreams of past lives and present worries. Then as the night fades back to day we try to peel from the sheets to do it again, same shit different day.
How long will this last? These end days of capitalism.
How long will we last? The society within the end days of capitalism.
How long will we last? The society within the end days of capitalism.
